Rasmalai French toast, a perfect holiday brunch/ breakfast for Christmas morning. It’s sweet, but not overly sweet.. Just the way I like it. Holidays are for indulging and this french toast does just that. It’s eggless, which is huge for someone like me who doesn’t really like eggs. It’s a great little twist to the traditional french toast. Basically rasmalai in a french toast form. The hot toast with the cold milk is just CHEFS KISS. Which is what everyone will be doing after you feed this to your friends and fam. I hope you guys enjoy this as much as my family and I have. As always don’t forget to tag me @ Zheelicious, I can’t wait to see your creations.
Stay happy, stay hungry!

| Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 10 minutes | Total time: 15 minutes | Makes: 4 toasts |
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 4 croissant toast (or brioche bread)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp rose water
- ½ tsp cardamom powder
- ½ tsp saffron
- 1 tsp rose water
- ½ tsp rose petals (optional)
- pistachios , sliced (otpional)
- Almonds, sliced (optional)
- Rose petals to top (optional)
Milk To top:
- ¾ cup of milk
- 2 tbsp condensed milk (add more or less according to your sweetness preference)
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder
- 1 pinch saffron
- ½ tsp rose water
Directions:
Time needed: 15 minutes
- In a cup add all the ingredients for the Milk on top, mix well with a whisk and set in the fridge until ready to use.
(you can make this night before and leave in the fridge)
- In a deep dish or pan add 1 cup of milk powdered sugar, corn starch, rose water, cardamom powder, saffron, rose petals if using. Mix it well with a whisk until everything is incorporated.
- Take a slice of the toast and dip it in the milk mixture in the dish. Coat the milk on both sides until the bread has soaked the milk.
- Heat a pan, add some butter to it then add the soaked toast. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown on both sides. Repeat until all the toasts are done.
- On a plate add the toast, top it with the chilled milk that was set aside. Top with almonds, pistachios, and rose petals.
ENJOY!!!
Notes:
- You can make milk for the top and the mixture to dip the toast in, a day in advance. Store it in the fridge.
- To make this vegan sub the whole milk for almond/ cashew milk (taste might vary)
- I got the croissant toast from Wholefoods, you can use any thick bread of your choice, brioche works just as well. I would maybe avoid adding the powdered sugar in the milk as the brioche is already sweet.
- If you are making it for a larger crowd, double or triple the recipe according to the amount of people serving.
